Friday Fun Fact – Food Plants for Caterpillars

As you may know, the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary grows the food plants for caterpillars that call our sanctuary home.

We have started to propagate more of these plants to increase our supplies.

We find that we have a very good success rate with our growing, so sometimes we find that there are more plants than we can use.

When this happens we can offer them to our local customers for a reasonable price.

The first up for sale in our gift shop is Senna alata, the host plant for the Lemon Migrant butterfly caterpillar. The plant grows to around 2 metres high, with bright yellow flowers. There are only 5 left.

We will be offering other species of plant as they become available.

Please feel free to stop by or give us a call if you would like to see what is available.
