Australian Butterfly Sanctuary has celebrated its landmark 30th year of operation! Initially designed and built by Paul and Sue Wright in 1987, the Woodward Family The CaPTA Group purchased a one half share of the business in 2004 and then the remaining share in 2007. Since owned by the The CaPTA Group, many extensions and renovations were undertaken to improve the sanctuary for the butterflies and guests. One of which was Charles Woodward opening the breeding laboratory to the public in 2005. The sanctuary currently houses approximately 4,000 caterpillars and 1500 butterflies which is made up of over 13 local native species at any one time, including the iconic Cairns Birdwing.
The birthday celebration included speeches, beverages and light snacks as well as delicious cupcakes thanks to Deckerdence and Cake Rescue. Approximatley 60 industry guests attended the event to celebrate with us, check out some photos of the event below.
